Splinters and stuck objects
Deep splinters, fishhooks, and small objects in a child's ear or nose are common urgent care visits. Leave embedded objects alone if they're hard to reach, since digging can push them deeper.
Go to the ER or call 911 if
- A swallowed button battery or magnets
- An object in the eye
- Anything causing trouble breathing
- A large object deep in a wound
What urgent care can usually do
- Remove splinters, fishhooks and many small objects

- Date of your last tetanus shot
